Hermès Lindy

The Hermès Lindy is the embodiment of moves and grooves. It combines both style and practicality. As opposed to other more structured purses offered by Hermès, the Lindy was relaxed and playful.

About Hermès

Since 1837, Hermès has remained faithful to its artisanal model and its humanist values. The freedom to create, the constant quest for beautiful materials, and the transmission of exceptional know-how – which enable the creation of useful, and elegant objects which stand the test of time – forge the uniqueness of Hermès. Family-run, independent and socially responsible, the company is committed to maintaining the majority of its production in France, through its 43 production sites, while developing its international distribution network of 311 stores in 45 countries.

Leather, Skins, & Material

The Hermès Lindy is generally available in three types of leather: Clemence, Swift and Evercolor. Swift leather is fine grain, soft and semi-matte leather; Clemence leather is grainy, flat and matted bull calfskin, and Evercolor is a stiff grained leather.

History of the Lindy

The Lindy Bag was first introduced to the public during the Hermès 1992 collection. Designed by Friederic Vidal, the bag was created as a homage to the American Street Dance, Lindy Hop.

Not only that, instead of designing the handles to go on the long side of the bag, the handles are placed on the shorter end of the bag to which the structure folds on itself, giving it a special silhouette. The atypical shape makes it arguably Hermès' most unique bag. As of today, all sizes are still being produced except the Lindy 45 (also known as the Lindy Voyage) as it has since been discontinued.
